The Groupe des ambassadeurs francophones (GAF) and the Alliance Française de La Haye are organising a series of events for the Francophonie month.

RECEPTION WITH FRANCOPHONE BUFFETS, 1 MARCH, 6-8PM, THE HAGUE

In order to celebrate Francophonie month, the Canadian Embassy Residence is inviting 7 French-speaking countries to offer a tasting of their culinary specialities. Buffets will be provided by the embassies of Côte d’Ivoire, France, Morocco, Lebanon, Senegal, Egypt and Tunisia.

THE FRENCH-LANGUAGE SHORT FILM FESTIVAL, SUNDAY 3 MARCH 2024, 3PM-4.30PM, FILMHUIS DEN HAAG

The embassies of Côte d’Ivoire, Morocco, Tunisia, Switzerland and Senegal, the General Delegation of Québec and the Institut français NL are organising a screening of short films at the Filmhuis cinema on 3 March at 3pm. The screening will be followed by a reception.

Short films from the Ivory Coast, France, Morocco, Switzerland, Senegal, Tunisia and Quebec will take you on a journey around the globe through the prism of language.

To celebrate Francophonie month, the Alliance Française de La Haye is offering a morning of discovery to introduce children to the countries of the French-speaking world.
For all children (non-French speakers and French speakers), from 3 to 8 years old.

“FRANCOPHONIE SANS FRONTIÈRES”: INTERNATIONAL DAY OF FRANCOPHONIE, 20 MARCH, 1.30-8PM, ALLIANCE FRANÇAISE DE LA HAYE

The 20 of March is International Francophonie Day. To mark the occasion, the Alliance Française de La Haye is inviting you to take a trip to 7 French-speaking countries: Croatia, Côte d’Ivoire, Canada, Morocco, Romania, Senegal and Tunisia. Each country will have its own room, offering the public a cultural and educational journey. Visitors will be able to wander from room to room and get their Francophonie passport stamped in each room they visit.

1.30pm – 3.30pm: reserved for children and school groups
3.30pm – 6pm: reserved for teenagers
6pm: welcoming speech
6pm – 8pm: general public

ABOUT THE GAF

The Group of French-speaking Ambassadors (GAF) in the Netherlands brings together some sixty embassies or general delegations based in The Hague (or Brussels). The GAF is in close contact with the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie. It aims to raise awareness of the interests, values and priorities of La Francophonie in the Netherlands.

The Organisation internationale de la Francophonie is an institutional body dedicated to promoting the French language and implementing political, educational, economic and cultural cooperation within the 88 member-states and governments of the OIF. La Francophonie represents 321 million speakers on five continents who share a common language, French.
