DIVE INTO GREEK TRAGEDY THIS APRIL
In April, the Théâtre de l’Avalanche continues its exceptional trilogy with Agamemnon, the second part of Tiago Rodrigues’ modern adaptation of the great classics of Greek tragedy. Three evenings at the Laaktheater in The Hague to witness the return of the king of kings and the relentless unfolding of the curse of the House of Atreus. ⚔️
🗓 Dates : Thursday 9, Friday 10 and Saturday 11 April 2026
🕗 Doors open: 7:30 PM – Performance starts : 8:00 PM (expected end: 9:30 PM)
📍 Venue: Laaktheater, Ferrandweg 4-T, 2523 XT The Hague
After ten years of war in Troy , Agamemnon returns victorious to his palace. But behind the military glory lies the heavy burden of the crimes committed. At his side, he brings Cassandra, the Trojan princess cursed by Apollo and condemned to foresee the future without ever being believed.
In the shadows, Queen Clytemnestra prepares her revenge. Alongside the sordid Aegisthus, consumed by ambition and thirst for power, she orchestrates a scheme from which no one will emerge unscathed. Between guilt, the desire for justice, and political violence, Agamemnon explores the consequences of power and the intimate fractures left by war.
This second part is part of a coherent and captivating trilogy :
Iphigenia opened the cycle in March, Agamemnon forms its tragic core, and Electra will conclude the saga in May. Each play can be seen independently, but together they recount the full curse of the House of Atreus.

THE NEXT PART OF THE TRILOGY
Electra : Wednesday 6, Thursday 7 and Friday 8 May 2026
These plays explore human and political stakes, the thirst for power, revenge, and the place of women in a history dominated by war and conquest.
